“What are you confessing with your mouth?”
Aug.2, 2010 teaching Pastor Karen Lee Reese
Whatever your mouth is speaking is coming from your heart. The Bible says; that out of the heart the mouth speaks. So whatever you are speaking, it came from your heart.(Matthew 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.) So how can we discern what is in our heart? If you read your Bible out loud and study and meditate on every word.(Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.) We could say that when you speak, your words should be in line with God’s word. Speaking God’s word out loud as you read and study will enable the word to go in your ear gate and into your heart as the Bible describes. But if you do not read out loud and study and meditate on God’s word then we can say that your words will be worldly words. The Bible says; we have life and death in the power of our tongue.(Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.) God’s word is life amen, for the Bible also tells us this and the world’s word is destruction or death. So which words do we really truly want to speak? Words of life or words of death. The choice is ours. Yes, we all have said things we wish we never did, and God is faithful to forgive when we sincerely repent. Repent means to be convicted in your heart of your wrong doing and turn from it, to never do it again. So many times we say we repent and turn around and do the same thing again. But that is not heart repentance, just exterior repentance. Conviction penetrates your soul, spirit and body to know you must turn this curse from you. Yes, if you keep repeating something over and over again, you are living under a curse that you received from something you did, or someone in your past might have done. Curses can be passed from generation to generation just as good things can be. So if you have not been taught about curses you will not know you have been under one. The Holy Spirit is our teacher. The Bible says; He teaches us into all truth. So when we pray, we must ask the Holy Spirit to show us any area of our lives that the enemy has a foot hold on us that we are unaware of. When the Holy Spirit reveals, then we can take the authority over the foot hold and make things right, amen! The Bible says; that words are a two edged sword that can pierce through the heart. So we want the words to be the right ones and not wrong. Have you ever had someone call you stupid? Well the Bible does use the word stupid. And it means just that! But I mean someone calling you stupid because you did not do something the way someone expected you to do, so they call you stupid or you can’t do anything, I might as well do it myself. Have you ever heard that? It pierces the heart of people sometimes very hard, depending on the sensitivity of the person. It can do major damage without you being aware of it. And we do not want to cause an offence in anyone. God wants us to be wise stewards with what He has given to us. That also means the words that the Holy Spirit teaches us to speak from the word. Words that edify and not tear down. It is so important to encourage people and lift them up. We should never have a critical spirit with people. We should always rejoice with them when they have great things happening in their lives. We should show them we are interested in hearing what God is doing in their lives, amen! We should never brush them off as if they do not matter and what they are talking about does not interest us. NO! We should be kind and take the time to listen then get excited for them! I can tell you one thing, the sooner we start doing this, the faster God will start showing us more favor. Because God delights in His children doing good things for each other with love. Praise God!!! I know how blessed I feel when someone has had great victory in their lives. The sense of freedom they feel, having received victory over the attack of the enemy. We need to be more thoughtful of others, putting ourselves on the back shelf instead of the front row of the shelf. I used to work in King’s Dept. Store many years ago in the house wares dept. When we would stock the shelves we always had to put the new merchandize in back of the old. It is called rotating the stock. So every time new items came in we would put the older items in front of the new ones. So it is the same with people in a sense, we must put them ahead of ourselves. For God will take care of us when we reach out to others, He says so in His word and He is not a man that He should lie.
1) Read the word out loud so it will go in your ears and into your heart.
2) Meditate and study the word of God to get it deep in your heart.
3) Know that life and death are in the power of the tongue and God’s word is life!!!
4) Repent quickly when the Holy Spirit convicts you of wrong words or any other thing that He places in your heart.
5) Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any area that is in your life that could have been cursed. And take authority over the curse or curses.
6) Make sure you speak words that encourage and edify.
7) Rejoice with those who have victory over the enemy. Encourage and get excited for them! Listen with sincerity to them. God will bless you and show you favor!
8) Always put others before yourself! For it is not about us at all. It is about pleasing our Father and glorifying Him amen!!!
